The kombucha craze skyrocketed and has now become the new, healthy way to get your drink on without the next day regrets. At the forefront of this kombucha evolution is our friends over at JuneShine! With their motto, “honest alcohol for a healthier planet,” they created an extensive line of hard kombucha so you can enjoy your favorite drink and all its benefits without killing the party (and the planet). While that’s all fine and dandy, what we’re really here to share though, is their new location in Scripps Ranch! What was the old Ballast Point Brewery, is now the new and improved JuneShine. Featuring 16 taps only available in house and a new restaurant – Enclave where Chef Lando cooks up nutrient dense, flavorful food (like her gluten-free fried chicken wings) for you to enjoy with your booch. So the next time you’re friends ask where to go for dinner, you’re response will be “booch, please… we’re going to JuneShine!” (@juneshineco)


Buona Forchetta

We don’t know about you, but whenever someone asks us what we want for dinner, our first thought is Italian! Let’s be real, nothing tops a cool San Diego evening, enjoying fresh pasta and homemade pizza with good friends and a (couple) bottles of wine. And at Buona Forchetta, you can do just that. While San Diego has a plethora of Italian food, not all restaurants offer an authentic dining experience. Buona Forchetta’s food is remarkable and their service is exceptional. Their menu features a small section for handmade pasta, but their crowning glory is their Neapolitan-style pizzas. These pies are cooked in their wood-fired oven, named “Sofia” (after Co-Owner Matteo Cattaneo’s first daughter), which is a spectacle in itself as it’s covered in golden tiles. Our favorite is the Levi: grape tomato, prosciutto di parma and mozzarella di bufala – now… mangiamo! (@buonaforchettasd)


Slater’s 50/50

When in doubt? Burger and fries! But if we’re going to indulge in a nice juicy burger, it better be a good one. That’s when we pay a visit to Slater’s 50/50! Burgers, bacon and beer? Count us in. If you haven’t experienced the awesomeness that is the 50/50 patty, you’re missing out. It’s 50% ground beef, 50% bacon and it’s outrageously good. Their burgers are stacked high with your favorite fixings but you might as well go all in with their “Best Damn Bacon Cheeseburger.” On the off chance you’re not in the burger mood, you’re in luck because Slater’s just amped up their menu to feature a ton new items including salads (their strawberry burrata salad is a crowd pleaser), pastas, sandwiches and they’ve even added an impossible burger. You can wash down your meal with any one of their abundances of beers (or wines) on tap! (@slaters5050)

San Diego Brewing Co.

Now, when you’re group REALLY can’t decide on a restaurant let alone a type of food, why not a little of everything? San Diego Brewing Co., tucked away in Grantville, offers a full service restaurant and brewery with 50 taps (18 of which are brewed in house)! Like we said, their menu features a little of everything: wings, burgers, pizza and nachos… you name it, they got it and it’s all delicious. Specifically the bacon, chicken ranch pizza and nachos are bomb.com.

Whether you want to catch a game or just grab a bite with the family, this sports bar meets brewery will become your new go-to spot. Now that NFL Sundays are in full swing, stop by on Sunday (but get their early), sports fans flock to this neighborhood favorite to cheer on their team of choice while enjoying good grubs and even better brews!
